Basic runs entirely offline — nothing leaves your PC. Standard and above add the cloud sync needed for remote viewing at dashboard.signalstreamstudio.com and for your data to follow you across devices.
Device licensing
Each account can be logged into one Studio installation at a time. This is enforced when you log in, not on every action — Studio doesn't check it continuously while you're already signed in.
Moving to a new PC
- Log out from the old PC while it's still online
A normal logout syncs your latest dashboard and input changes to the cloud and releases the device license.
- Log in on the new PC
Use the same email. Your dashboard and data-input configuration restore automatically from the cloud.
What happens if you try to log in from a second device
If your account is currently unlicensed, or already licensed to that same device, logging in just takes over the license. If a different device currently holds the license, the login is denied outright and you're kept signed out — there's no self-service way to "steal" an active license from another machine.
If the PC holding your license can't log out itself (it's broken, lost, or you no longer have access to it), contact support. An admin can manually release the device lock on your account. Once it's released, logging in on a new PC re-registers it and restores your dashboards as usual.
Releasing a license doesn't immediately disconnect an old Studio process that's still running — it just won't be able to log in or reconnect again afterward.
